And now she has taken over the reins as Dean of Wilfrid Laurier University School of Business & Economics; helping to shape the minds of Canada's future. No stranger to innovation, Ginny was the driving force behind the creation of Canada's Information Highway and pioneering vital internetworking initiatives for Canada as President and CEO of Bell Advanced Communications. Technology is her passion; she champions programs accelerating outreach for young Canadians - including Youth in Motion's Top 20 Under 20 Award Program. Ginny's accomplished career has been marked by creating Innovation Sandboxes out of which pour ground-breaking technological solutions for critical business problems, in a global and competitive market. Ginny’s successful business career has been marked by the creation of innovative technological solutions for critical business problems primarily in the Telecommunications sector. Appointed to a number of senior executive roles within Bell Canada, Ginny was responsible for helping drive innovation within a telecommunications industry adapting to a competitive environment. As President and CEO of Bell Advanced Communications, Ginny’s accomplishments included the creation of Canada's Information Highway, CA*net; the formation of a Professional Services business unit within Bell Canada and the pioneering of Bell's first successful Electronic Commerce service offering. Subsequently, as head of Marketing for a high tech start-up, Ginny was responsible for expanding the reach and influence of a uniquely successful software firm operating around the world. Ginny has been a champion for the promotion of technical programs for youth, serving on the Youth in Motion Educational Foundation, notable for its Top 20 Under 20TM scholarship competition. She is a member of The Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Waterloo North Hydro Board, and the Waterloo Economic Development Committee. Ginny is President and Founder of the Waterloo Chapter of the International Women’s Forum and was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2008. Ginny holds degrees in Mathematics from the University of Western Ontario (BA) and the University of Waterloo (M. Mathematics), a diploma in Operations Research from the University of Toronto and Executive Business from Queen's University. |
